Welcome to the Companion App for the Tend VR Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course! After completing each VR session, make sure to check in here to help you get the most out of the course with the home practice sessions.

The sessions are designed to enhance and support your learning each week and deepen your understanding of the practices introduced in the VR sessions, helping you to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life.

Each session has a brief introduction and associated audio recordings.

​

You can listen to the recordings each week in any order you prefer. None are compulsory but we encourage you to try and complete them all.

​

The meditations and movement sessions are intended for regular use either in the week we introduce them or in any other week if they feel right for you.

Week 1: Waking up from automatic pilot

In the VR session we covered the topic of Automatic Pilot, which is the tendency to be mentally absent as we go about our lives. Our body is doing one thing, but our mind is thinking about something entirely different.

 

This week's companion app recordings explore how we can step out of Automatic Pilot and be fully present, applying this to our daily activities, including how we eat. We also clarify what mindfulness is and how it can help us. After listening to the "Raisin Mind" recording see if you can take the spirit of mindful eating into all your meals. "Mindful Self Care" sets you up for applying mindfulness to any daily self-care activity.
